"While I am continuing to review the details of the Governor’s proposed budget, I am disappointed that it does not go far enough to meet the basic needs of Californians. At a time when families are struggling, we must be more aggressive in addressing food insecurity, getting unhoused residents into stable housing, and significantly increasing the supply of affordable housing.
This is no time for business as usual. Californians expect leadership that confronts these challenges directly and with urgency. I look forward to the months ahead to engage in a serious budget debate and to work with my colleagues in the Assembly to deliver solutions that reflect the realities our communities are facing.

We cannot fall for the fear driven rhetoric that this administration pushes, and we must acknowledge the dangers of following such a narrative. I must be clear that the intent of this rhetoric is to manipulate public opinion and create division through chaos. This is inhumane and unnecessary, and we must firmly reject xenophobia. It is our responsibility to stand in unwavering solidarity to defend their rights, safeguard their families and uphold their dignity, not only as workers but as vital members of society.

Jackson (D-Moreno Valley) has taken decisive action to address California’s housing crisis by authoring AB 317, the First Time Homeowner Act, a bill designed to boost affordable housing production by eliminating unnecessary regulatory delays. The legislation passed the Assembly Floor last week with strong bipartisan support and now heads to the Senate.
